Past Events

The images below give a flavour of Dickensian Evening 2010, described by some as the best ever!

Nigel Eadie, the Chamber Chairman, is pictured with the Mayors of Tavistock and West Devon, getting the evening off to a good start.  They were assisted by children from St Peter's and St Rumon's Primary Schools, who pressed the button to switch on the town's Christmas lights.

Other pictures include stilt-walkers, a fire juggler, a hog roast, the choir of St Eustachius' Church, visitors from Morwellham, swing-boats and train rides for the children, traders dressed in costume, local musicians, a steam engine, a street chestnut vendor, Morris dancers, the friendly face of an 'old time' policeman, and the newly appointed Town Crier.

If you have never visited Tavistock before, either for Dickensian Evening, or simply to see what Tavistock has to offer, please make a point of doing so.  You will not be disappointed.

Dickensian Evening is held on the last Friday in November, to coincide with the switching on of the Christmas lights.  This year, it will be on Friday 25 November 2011.  Make a note of it in your diary now, to avoid disappointment.
